The Cineplexx hall was too small to accommodate everyone who wanted to watch the documentary film "The Dayton Legacy: Bosnia – A Fragile Peace" by Pierre-Olivier Francois, which had its international premiere as part of the "AJB Screening" program at the 6th AJB DOC Film Festival.

Following the screening of this documentary, which provides an informative analysis of the current crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, encompassing secessionist temptations, widespread corruption and foreign interference, a discussion with the audience was held.

Giving voice to key political leaders and members of civil society who advocate for greater democracy, Francois in this film addresses the complex legacy of the Dayton Peace Agreement and provides a detailed and alarming assessment of the current geopolitical situation.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina is a small, divided, fragile country with three constituent peoples, proving how difficult it is to end a war and even more challenging to achieve a just peace," says Francois.

This French journalist, who covered the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the beginning of his career, admits that it was very difficult for him to understand  exactly what was happening. The situation became clearer to him after he watched a BBC documentary, after which he himself began creating stories about Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Decades later, when he received an offer from Arte to make a documentary about Bosnia and Herzegovina, he saw it as an opportunity to analyse the current political situation and the influence of the Dayton Peace Agreement on it, 30 years later.

The executive producer of the film is Srđan Šarenac, and the producer is Christian Popp. The film's co-producers are Rachel Adoul, Al Jazeera Balkans, and Al Jazeera Documentary Channel.

The AJB DOC Film Festival runs until September 12th. You can find the complete program and details about the films that will be screened on the official website of the Festival.
