Successfully Held Event AJB DOC @Posušje

Three films from 6th edition of the AJB DOC were shown.

Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival (AJB DOC) in cooperation with the Municipality of Posušje organized the screening of three documentaries in the city cinema hall. Three films from two festival selections, SmartDoc and AJB Screening, were held.

During the two-day guest visit, the AJB DOC Film Festival delegation, consisting of the Festival Director Edhem Fočo, Programmer Sead Kreševljaković and Marketing Executive Vedad Sejfić, held fruitful meetings with the Municipality of Posušje Mayor, Anto Begić, his Advisor to the Mayor for Diplomacy and International Relations, Jozo Kolobarić, and other collaborators, discussing the possibility of joint implementation of projects in the field of culture.

"We are delighted with the cooperation with the Municipality of Posušje, the response of the audience and their reactions, and we are especially flattered by the welcome of the hosts. The initial idea of cooperation was realized, and the personal meetings brought a lot of new ideas about the directions of expansion of joint activities to mutual satisfaction", said Edhem Fočo, director of AJB DOC.

Carefully Selected Program

Two films from the SmartDoc selection, intended for short documentaries recorded with a smartphone, "Village is Mine" by Jasmin Brutus and "Gambler Never Loses" by Marija Stanojević, were shown on February 12 for the students of eighth and ninth grade from city and district schools in Posušje. These films, which deal with the themes of family, work, tradition and human relationships, as well as the devastating impact of gambling, loss and addiction, aroused great interest among the young viewers.

On 13th of February and second day of the program, high school students together with members of Croatian Homeland War veterans' associations, watched the feature-length documentary film "Investigator" by Viktor Portel - hich follows Vladimir Dzuro, the only Czech investigator who, while working for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, collected evidence against war criminals and perpetrators of ethnic cleansing.His two biggest cases were the Ovčara massacre, linked to then Vukovar Mayor Slavko Dokmanović, and ethnic cleansing in northwestern Bosnia.
