Call for Submissions to the Third Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival

Third AJB DOC Film Festival will take place in Sarajevo from 11th to 15th September 2020.

Al Jazeera Balkans announces a Call to authors and production companies to participate in the third edition of the Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival (AJB DOC), which will take place in Sarajevo from 11th to 15th September 2020. The Festival will focus on documentary films intended for television broadcasting.

The AJB DOC Film Festival is organized third year in a row as the result of the Al Jazeera Balkans’ long-year television experience in production, acquisition and broadcasting of documentaries. Its objective is to promote authors and films dealing with social phenomena, while focusing of universal human values.

Submissions for the third edition of the AJB DOC Film Festival will be made through the application form or through the Film Freeway platform. The first submission deadline is May 10th. The extended deadline will be May 31st, 2020.

There is no country-of-origin limitation for producers and authors who wish to submit their film. One of the main criteria is a TV documentary format with a minimum duration of 22 to 27 minutes and a maximum of 44 to 52 minutes. The official selection of the third AJB DOC Film Festival will be announced at the beginning of September 2020.

The official competition programme, out-of-competition programme Last Minute Cinema and the special AJB Screening programme will present more than 20 documentary films.  

The AJB DOC Film Festival will present awards in three categories, AJB DOC Main Award, AJB Program Award and Audience Award, and all selected films can be considered for an acquisition agreement with the Al Jazeera Balkans and broadcast on its TV Channel.
