From 16th to 25th August, the audience in Herzegovina will have the opportunity to watch excellent nationally produced documentaries.

AJB DOC Film Festival @Konjic

Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival  (AJB DOC), in cooperation with the Cultural Centre „National University Konjic“ will make a guest appearance in that town from 16th to 25th August 2021 within the „ Konjic Cultural summer 2021“. The summer cinema will screen four films selected from the Festival’s 2020 programme screened during the pandemic.

Nationally produced films to be screened in Konjic are: Portrait of a Legend – Vaha, about one of the most popular football players and coaches from the region, Vahid Halilhodžić; Džemo, about a farmer in love with running which changed his life drastically; Dream team grannies, about pensioners from Ljubuški who delight with their energy and musical performances, as well as Neighbours, a story about people forced to leave everything behind and start their quest for a better life. All films will be screened at 8:30 p.m.

The fact that the film Neighbours won the award presented by the expert jury for the AJB Screening programme, while Džemo received a Special Award as the most watched film with more than 60,000 views during the five festival days, speaks volumes about the quality of the selected films.

The Festival’s organizers stated that the great interest of the audience in Konjic expressed last year caused them to visit that town again, as well as the desire to cooperate with other manifestations throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina thus getting closer to the audiences, but also to ensure greater visibility for good films nationally made.
