Training applications closed

Applications for the three-day training „Smartphone Documentary Film Production“, organised by Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival (AJB DOC), in cooperation with the Al Jazeera Media Institute in Doha, are now closed.

Due to the huge interest and the number of applications, it was necessary to undertake a selection process that is now underway. All selected training participants will be notified via e-mail upon the completion of the selection process.

The training will be led by Tunisian journalist and TV producer Adnen Chaouachi, a long-time associate of the Al Jazeera Media Institute, who held the same course last year in an online form. Considering better conditions in terms of the pandemic, this year the participants from the region will have the opportunity to work with the coach in Sarajevo.

All participants in the training will be awarded Certificates of Participation by the Al Jazeera Media Institute. Additionally, all participants will be given a one-month deadline upon completion of the training to develop their own ideas for a mobile phone documentary film. After the deadline, the training leader and representatives of the Organizer will select the best idea for implementation and award it with a cash prize of € 1,500, an award by Samsung, as well as mentoring support in the filming process.

Last year's course provided excellent results and, as announced before, this year the audiences will have an opportunity to watch the winning idea and Jasenko Pašić's film, made with a smart phone, as well as several other projects that stood out with their quality and were accepted and included in the new SmartDoc festival selection which will be presented during the Fourth AJB DOC Film Festival.
