Call for Submissions to the 6th AJB DOC Film Festival

Submissions to the sixth AJB DOC Film Festival will be made through the application form on www.ajbdoc.ba or through the Film Freeway platform. Submission deadline is 26th May 2023.

 Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival announces a Call to authors and production companies to participate in the sixth edition of the Festival, which will take place in Sarajevo from 8th to 12th September 2023. 

AJB DOC Film Festival is organized by the TV broadcaster Al Jazeera Balkans in cooperation with Al Jazeera Documentary Channel and Al Jazeera Media Institute in Doha, with the objective to promote authors and films dealing with social phenomena, films about human destinies and stories that are universal to all of us.

Submissions to the sixth edition of the AJB DOC Film Festival will be made through the application form here or through the Film Freeway platform. Submission deadline is 26th May 2023.

There is no country-of-origin limitation for producers and authors who wish to submit their film. One of the main criteria is a TV documentary format with a minimum duration of 22 to 27 minutes and a maximum of 44 to 52 minutes. The official selection of the sixth AJB DOC Film Festival will be announced at the beginning of September 2023. As in the previous years, the Festival will screen over 20 top-quality documentaries of recent production across four festival selections: Competition Selection, Out-of-competition Last Minute Cinema, AJB Screening and SmartDoc.

In addition to being a platform for TV documentaries, AJB DOC Film Festival also presents best feature-length documentaries of recent production, films co-produced by Al Jazeera Balkans, and films made by young authors with mobile smartphones. 

AJB DOC Film Festival will present awards in three categories: AJB DOC Main Award for the best film in the competition selection presented by the International Jury, Programme Department Jury Award and Audience Award. All selected films may be considered for an acquisition agreement with Al Jazeera Balkans and broadcast on its TV Channel.
