Apply to Balkan Young Talents

Balkan Young Talents is a new initiative developed jointly by Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival and Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival (AJB DOC).

We are looking for 8 young talents (18 – 30 years old) that want to make compelling and visually strong short documentary films.

We are inviting directors from Western Balkans – Albania, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia to apply for 2 session- program which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia on 11-13 May 2023 during Beldocs Industry Days and in Sarajevo, 08 -12 September 2023 during Al Jazeera Documentary Industry Days at AJB DOC.

The intense 3 days program at Beldocs Industry Days aims to foster creativity, facilitate the exchange of knowledge, and encourage networking. Lectures, panels and one to one mentoring will provide the participants with the basic theoretical and practical techniques in order to create a 10 minutes documentary that centers around the theme of freedom.

Over the summer the participants under guidance of experienced mentors will work on their short documentary films, where 3-5 best projects will be presented to a group of international documentary film professionals during Al Jazeera Documentary Industry Days at AJB DOC, where programmers from Al Jazeera Balkans will pick 1 best project to be screened on their platforms as short formats.
